Project Strategy
Hockey Canada's new corporate office space in Calgary includes a conference centre, International Rink, and boardroom areas. The Interior Design team from GEC Architects, Calgary, selected the Mohawk Group's Lees, Places and Spaces carpet tile for its cityscape aesthetic, and relevance to "community". As Canada's national sport, hockey brings citizens and communities together. The interior palette is specifically meant to be timeless and neutral. By injecting this neutral, yet dramatic carpet tile into the corporate office areas, it adds contrast and movement, while tying together the chic elements of the millwork and glass. In the Boardrooms the designer specified a New Gotham broadloom from Bentley Prince Street. In the Dressing Room area, the Hockey Canada logo in the flooring takes centre stage. By using Tandus Powerbond carpet, laser cut at the mill, the crisp lines required to replicate this logo into the carpet was convincingly and dramatically achieved. This becomes a piece of art on the floor. By thoughtful and creative finish selections, GEC Architects have provided Hockey Canada with a beautiful and motivating space, ensuring that the organization meets its goal of attracting the talent to remain at the forefront of this sport.
