South Health Campus

Project Strategy
For Kasian Architecture + Interior Design, the interior design scheme for this hospital was literally "right before their eyes". The exterior landscape surrounding this facility proved to be a provocative inspiration - the beige, brown and gold of the prairies, the grey and green of the Rocky Mountains, and the blue sky, are all represented in this cohesive interior design scheme. By utilizing 16 colors from Armstrong Marmorette, the tranquil, yet vibrant, hues of the outdoors are replicated in a creative way on the floor. The goal was to provide both cost effective and performance longevity, as this is a government funded health campus, but also recognizing that the real "client" was the patient who would occupy space within that environment. The overall magnitude of this project was a challenge in itself, taking nearly 32 months to complete. For the flooring dealer, KBM, ensuring that the excellent quality of installation was consistent throughout this time frame, from crew to crew, was the biggest challenge they faced. Through collaboration between the specifier, supplier, contractor and flooring dealer, the final result is deserving of accolades for a job well done, and a beautiful end result.
